We were pleasantly surprised to find today that our pot-o-leftover-seeds has successfully supported the germination process. The tomato and pepper plants took a little longer to poke through the soil in the pot compared to their siblings in the specially-designed germinator pods from Lowe's. Of course we're not sure exactly which plants are which in the pot, but eventually we should have a few hints, as long as they stay alive long enough!
